Fact Check: Jennifer Lopez Photographed 'Without Makeup'?

In September 2024, an image spread online, allegedly showing singer and actress Jennifer Lopez without makeup. The collage of two photographs quickly gained traction on X (formerly Twitter), with users speculating not just about the image itself, but also diving into conspiracy theories.

One post , which garnered over 885,600 views, asked, "What's the name of that stuff celebrities in Hollywood allegedly take that's allegedly in current short supply again please?" A user responded , "The word you're looking for is adrenochrome ," referencing a far-right conspiracy theory that accuses celebrities and politicians of using children's blood to maintain youth.

The images also made their way to TikTok, where one user captioned the collage, "Jennifer Lopez (JLo) at 54 without makeup," further commenting, "JLo looks very different." One TikTok user wrote under the post: "I don't like her but this is not real,even her mother looks younger than this picture."

A similar TikTok post shared in late 2023, reached over 3.1 million views. The same images were also shared on Facebook in July 2024.

In short, because the images in question were digitally edited to add wrinkles and other aging effects to Jennifer Lopez's face, we have rated this claim as "Fake."

TinEye reverse image-search results indicated the photographs were manipulated to artificially age Lopez's face (see image below):

The original, unaltered photos were first shared in October 2019 , and they do not depict Lopez as shown in the circulated collage.

We investigated another Lopez-related rumor claiming that she was a backup dancer for pop star Janet Jackson in the early 1990s.
