SNOW HILL, N.C. (WNCT) — People gathered at the Greene County Senior Center in Snow Hill on Monday to learn more from the National Weather Service about hurricane preparedness.

Topics discussed included emergency kits, evacuation plans and knowing when and how to return.

“What is your reliance on electricity? For you and I, we don’t have AC. It could be an inconvenience. But it could be life-threatening for senior citizens. Maybe you need oxygen and you’re reliant on electricity, you have to have a plan to evacuate the area,” NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist Erik Heden.

Officials with the Greene County Senior Center added they offer services to help senior citizens prepare for storms. Those interested in learning more can call (252) 747-5436.
