    Greene Senior Center announces activities for July

    The Greene County Senior Center, 104 Greenridge Road, Snow Hill, has the following activities coming up. Call the center at 747-5436 for details.

    Foodborne Illness Presentation by Jennifer Lane, public health educator and preparedness coordinator with the Greene County Department of Public Health, 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

    Bocce will be played at the center’s bocce court at 9 a.m. every Wednesday.Visitors can make puppy treats for the Greene County Animal Shelter at 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays. The center is partnering with the animal shelter to make the treats.

    Powerful Tools

    Powerful Tools for Caregivers classes will be at 10-11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays starting at the center on July 31. The six-week course helps caregivers take better care of themselves while caring for a friend or relative. The course is for 18 years of age and up. This class will focus on caregivers of adults. Participants will receive The Caregiver Helpbook, which follows the curriculum and provides additional tools to address specific caregiver issues. Classes are free.     Free Fans

    Duke Energy Progress Operation Fan/Heat Relief Free Fans for the Elderly has free box fans for residents 60 or older with a disability. Supplies are limited. One per household. Individuals who received fans in recent years and/or have a working central air unit may be placed on a waiting list. Call 252-747-5436.
