Halo-Halo Event Brings Together BIPOC Snowboarders

This year was year two of Snowboy Productions' event Halo-Halo , hosted at Mt. Hood's Timberline Lodge in the slush and sunshine of mid summer snowboarding's warm hug. Originated last year by Snowboy owner Krush Kulesza, the event was a huge success and had to continue on to another year, much to the delight of the riders invited among which include Egan Wint, Iris Pham, Miles Fallon, Raibu Katayama, Irie Jefferson, Lex Hernandez-Roland, and so, so many more.

When asked about her experience this year, Iris Pham said, "It was a really positive energy. It felt like everyone was really appreciate to be snowboarding and at Mt hood together.'

Egan Wint followed with, "Previously shy about being Colombian, I found myself feeling isolated. Halo Halo showed me what pride in the community looks like. Everyone there is so vibrant and I love them."

Halo-Halo (which translates to “mix-mix” in Tagalog) officially launched on July 8th, 2023. This event was ultimately inspired following a different event for the Soy Sauce Nation crew called Soy Sauce Nation’als , which had an Asian focus. Halo Halo ultimately came into existence because it was important for Krush and his crew at Snowboy to evolve this into a broader spectrum and make it a full BIPOC-inclusive space and event.
