This July, Snowboy Productions Halo-Halo brought BIPOC boarders from all over the world to Timberline at Mt. Hood for the second year. The event, which aims to create community while fostering inclusivity and equity, isn't just about the snowboarding, but everything around the snowboarding, too. The build crew is celebrated, bringing together BIPOC diggers to collaborate and create. The media crew that covers the event is also a part of the community, and while they are shining a light on the riders, the spotlight is importantly on them, too. It's a full-circle collaboration of everyone present. And that is really, really cool.

Snowboy has explained on their Instagram that Halo-Halo means "mix-mix" in Tagalog. It is a dessert from the Phillipines that combines shaved ice, fruits, ice cream, jellies and/or pearls--it is a ton of delicious stuff all combined together to make a delicious dessert. The metaphor for bringing together snowboarders to coalesce in one community is obvious, of course.

The second year of Halo-Halo was an obvious blast. Watch the video to enjoy. This is the sort of thing that really shines in snowboarding: bringing people together and raising the whole community up.

    From Snowboy Productions:

Built by the community. Ridden by the community. Covered by the community. Inspiring the community.

Year two of Halo-Halo (mix-mix in Tagalog) brought over 130 builders, riders, media and youth organizations to the sunny slopes of Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood. Here is a taste of what went down over three amazing days.
