The Aspen Camp for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is seeking donations of new and gently used outdoor gear to use on outdoor excursions with campers. The camp is looking for daypacks, sleeping bags, sleeping pads and tents that can fit between two and six people. Interested community members can make donations through Oct. 31. Donors can drop off gear at the camp itself (4862 Snowmass Creek Road, Snowmass) or the REI Co-op in Glenwood Springs (3216 S. Glen Ave).

Council members hope for Castle Creek Bridge decision next week
After months of study and discussion, Aspen council members hope to make a decision about replacing the aging Castle Creek Bridge at a work session on Aug. 12. Consultants from global engineering firm Jacobs Engineering presented reports on replacement options for the bridge during a work session on Monday. Jacobs is scheduled to present additional information at the Aug. 12 work session, after which council will deliberate on how to move forward.

Community: Another Word For Family
With the recent outbreak of wildfires and so many families and animals being evacuated, we again find the best in humanity showing up and showing out. So many volunteers and first responders help relocate people and animals alike. One such group of animals is being housed at Island Grove Park in Greeley. There are 60-plus horses, a couple of alpacas, goats, and pigs. Taking care of these animals is no small task, but the folks from the Larimer County Emergency Management Team are up for the job.
