SNYDER, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) — Actor Barry Corbin is hosting an event in Snyder called ‘ An Evening with Barry Corbin ,’ where he discusses his various stage and film roles and answers fans’ questions.

Corbin has portrayed many characters, from Urban Cowboy to Dallas, Lonesome Dove, and Yellowstone. Hailing from Lamesa, Texas, he has often utilized his roots in the portrayal of various characters through the years and reflected on his younger days when he first became inspired to become an actor.

“All the other kids who play cowboys and Indians. But to me, it was real. And I thought, “I could do this.” So I’m still playing Cowboys and Indians. I never grew up. I grew bigger and grayer, but I’m still the same little kid that I was,” Corbin shared.

Barry’s acting career didn’t start in front of the camera but on stage. Corbin started as a classically trained Shakespearian actor and had several engagements in New York and Los Angeles before his time on the big screen.

“Until I was nearly 40 years old, I did almost exclusively stage,” said Corbin.

However, once he made his film debut in 1980’s Urban Cowboy, his career blossomed into something greater.

“I’ve worked with people like Ernie Borgnine, who won the Academy Award for Marty and Ben Johnson, and I worked with Hal Holbrook and Clint Eastwood, Sidney Poitier. All these guys,” Corbin recalled.

Corbin will return to the stage for “An Evening with Barry Corbin,” a night that invites the public to a Q&A session where he talks about his life and acting career.

“What the show is is controlled mayhem. So, we have questions and answers. As long as anybody’s got questions, I’ll answer them. And sometimes, I’ll veer off. I never know what it’s going to be like,” said Corbin.

Corbin’s next stop for the show will be the Ritz Community Theater in downtown Snyder on Saturday, July 13th, at 7:00 p.m., but if anyone is unable to make that showing, he will have later dates for ‘ An Evening with Barry Corbin ‘ in Gainsville and Waxahachie.
