After beloved Days of Our Lives star Bill Hayes passed away, his co-star and real-life wife, Susan Seaforth Hayes, has been able to move on and live her life to its fullest. Recently, she visited a national treasure with some castmates and fans and shared photos from the fun journey on social media.

Salem Crew Had a Wonderful Times

Hayes took to Instagram, sharing several pictures from her latest adventure and captioning them, “When you visit Grand Canyon, be sure to travel with people you love. The pleasure is so overwhelming, you’ll want to share it. Starstruck Events (thank you Paul and Keith!) put together 20 devoted #DOOL fans and 5 of my favorite actors; Judi, Missy, Matt, Leann, and Thaao — for a train trip that was…perfect ❤️.” The trip was one that fans were able to eagerly participate in.

The co-stars she referred to were: Judi Evans (Bonnie), Melissa “Missy” Reeves (Jennifer), Matthew Ashford (Jack), Leann Hunley (Anna), and world traveler Thaao Penghlis (Tony). The photos showed the group’s camaraderie and the majestic scenery of the Grand Canyon. She fondly remembered her late husband, Bill Hayes (Doug), writing, “Twice upon a time, I was there with my darling Bill Hayes — a precious memory. But time goes by… and this adventure put new sparkle on my spirit.” (Find out how DAYS paid tribute to Hayes.)

She ended her post with the loving, “Thank you dear fans and friends for showing us Salem veterans we are still so loved!”

    Fans Were Delighted

Hayes’ castmates, Kristian Alfonso (Hope) and Paul Telfer (Xander) responded with loving emojis, while Penghlis chimed in with, “What a glorious photo of a beautiful soul.” Many of her fans wished they could have joined the Salem crew on this wonderful fan event, as one replied, “I would have given almost anything to be on that trip.”

Penghlis himself shared many snaps from the trip on his own Instagram page. One picture was of most of the group, which he captioned, “What it looks like with actors who have worked together for almost 40yrs. Susan gave us a heartfelt memory of our great Doug Hayes. It was a magical time with our great fans at the Grand Canyon.”
