Adam Huss had some big shoes to fill when he took over the role of Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital. Before him, Marcus Coloma played the Cassadine scion, and even before him was Tyler Christopher, who originated the part. Much like the previous actors, Huss has won the viewers over and opened up about Christopher’s inspiration.

    Christopher’s Not Forgotten

It was a tragic day for GH fans on October 31, 2023, when Christopher died from positional asphyxia because of acute alcohol intoxication (via People). Viewers had been holding out hope that he would return to the role, but sadly, that would never happen. Huss recently explained how Christopher’s performance over the years inspired him to take on the daunting task of playing Nikolas.

A guest on Maurice Benard’s (Sonny) YouTube interview series, State of Mind, Huss gushed: “I love it so much. I love being in there, and I also respect…who I’m taking over for.” While also praising Coloma’s run as Nikolas, he understood that the fans still think of Christopher’s two decades playing the character. His Legacy Was Inspiring

“I never got to meet Tyler officially,” Huss stated. However, a journalist that he knew was with Tyler several months before his death and called Huss so the two Nikolas’ could chat. Getting over the potential awkwardness of the situation, he told Christopher, “You know, I gotta tell you when I was a kid in the 90s I saw you on [the] covers [of soap magazines] and I was like, ‘I wanna be that guy.’ ”

He also told the icon that following in his footsteps was an honor and further explained that he watched nearly all the video clips the actor was in to find inspiration, not copy him. He then praised Christopher’s portrayal of Nikolas by giving the Italian gesture known as the chef’s kiss. This meant the originator’s performance was perfect.

Whenever he plays Nikolas, Huss keeps Christopher in his heart. And he continues to refer to old Nikolas video clips to find more inspiration.
