Below Deck alum, Ben Willoughby spoke about his time on the show. He blamed the franchise for ruining his yachting career.

    Naughty Yachtie

Willoughby appeared in Season 10 and Season 11 of Below Deck. He has since taken time away from the show. However, he claims that his appearances on the show ruined his career. Willoughby took to TikTok to share an update with his followers.

He explained what happened to his yachting career. Willoughby said that both the captain and owner of a yacht he was working on found out that he was on the Bravo franchise. He claimed he got “fired” from his job just for appearing on both seasons of the show.

Arguably, viewers called Willoughby out for insubordination in Season 11. In his confessional interviews, he talked about Captain Kerry Titheradge and Chief Stew Fraser Olender behind their backs.

“Have a good story about the crew on Below Deck getting back into the industry after television appearances,” Willoughby captioned the post.

That’s not the only time he talked about his yachting career. Per Monsters & Critics, he recently held a Q&A with fans via his Instagram Stories. Willoughby shared what he’s currently doing with his life since leaving the reality series. He admitted that he had to “move out of the industry as Below Deck has caused too many battles getting back into the industry.”

Willoughby is focusing on his other passions. He’s been filming independent movies. He also enjoys photography. Willoughby often shares his photos on social media. During his Q&A, he called out the “stigma” in the yachting industry associated with those who appear on the show.

But there’s one good thing that came out of his experience. The former playboy finally found love with Marie “Sunny” Marquis. The two met on Season 11 and have been together for over a year. The couple has been sharing their adventures on social media. They also share a passion for arts and crafts.

What are your thoughts on what Willoughby said about his yachting career? Do you think the show is to blame? Let us know in the comment section.
