    COLUMBIA BASIN — If you’re looking to get out and about after enjoying the Independence Day holiday, The Columbia Basin has several things going on over the next week.

    July 5

    Children’s movie at the library

    The Quincy Public Library invites families to come by for a viewing of the movie “Wish” a PG-rated film that features a young girl that wishes on a star and gets a bit more than she bargained for.     July 6

    Soap Box in Soap Lake

    The Soap Lake Police Department will host its annual soap box derby event July 6 at 9 a.m. The event welcomes participants aged 8-10 who want to have a fun time and is part of Suds ‘N Sun (see below). Fitment and decorating cars will occur July 5 to ensure derby vehicles are safe to use and everyone has a good time.     Suds ‘N Sun

    If soap box racing isn’t your thing, it’s not the only thing happening in Soap Lake on July 6. Suds ‘N Sun — the community’s annual festival — will take place July 6 as well.     Grange car show

    Join White Trail Grange No. 1143 for the organization’s annual car show on a Saturday in July. The car show is open to the public to come and enjoy the vehicles, a bazaar, bake and craft sale, silent auction, barn dance and food. Entries in the show are available to cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, hot rods and rat rods and prizes will be awarded to participants.     Show & Shine for Christ car show

    Head over to the Bethel Church parking lot at 915 S. First Avenue in Othello for a car show. Competition entries cost $15 but the public is welcome to attend and see the cars. The sixth annual event will feature food, trophies and slow drags. https://bit.ly/3XGZCe9

    Moses Lake Farmers Market

    Visit McCosh Park in Moses Lake for a wide variety of produce, plants, honey, concessions, pet treats and crafts. Market is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. www.moseslakefarmersmarket.com.

    July 12

    'You’re killin’ me smalls.'

    Head out to Lions Park in Othello for a screening of the movie “The Sandlot” and see how baseball, a sense of adventure and James Earl Jones combine for an awesome story. The screening of this PG-rated feature is free, and the City of Othello is hosting the event. Movie is set to begin at 8:45 p.m. Call 509-488-5686 for more information.

    Goat Yoga

    Cloudview Farm hosts goat yoga periodically throughout the summer to allow people to come out, enjoy the farm and focus on their health — while surrounded by adorable goats.     2024 Bingo Fundraiser

    Care Moses Lake is excited to have Grant County Sheriff Joey Kriete emcee a community bingo night at the Moses Lake Event Center. Proceeds from the event will support Boys & Girls Clubs, the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation, Columbia Basin K9s, Big Bend Community College’s Viking Food Pantry, New Hope/Kids Hope, Habitat for Humanity, Youth Dynamics, Central Basin Community Concert Association, Columbia Basin Allied Arts, the Downtown Moses Lake Association and other local nonprofits serving Moses Lake and the surrounding area. Tickets are $30 and include a taco plate from A Crew BBQ & Catering, two drink tokens and DJ’d music by Dale Roth.     Farmer’s Market
