In 1951, Love of Life debuted on CBS. The soap was created by the same man who brought Search for Tomorrow to life, Roy Winsor, who went on to create The Secret Storm. Love of Life ran until February 1, 1980. Among its original cast members was Peggy McCay (pictured), who played Vanessa Dale, the show's signature heroine. McCay would go on to play the matriarch of the Brady family, Caroline, on Days of Our Lives. Originally set in the fictional town of Barrowsville, the show switched locales to the town of Rosehill for the majority of the series's run. Outside of McCay, other notable alumni of its cast are the late John Aniston, best known for playing Victor Kiriakis on DAYS, and the late Christopher Reeve, best known as Superman in the film franchise.
