Son Signs: GH's Aiden (Colin Cassidy, with Jonathan Jackson as Lucky) and Y&R's Kyle (Michael Mealor) were the center of family drama last week.

    The Best

General Hospital : Aiden Comes Out To Lucky

GH could have gone a lot of different ways when Aiden and his absentee father Lucky finally saw each other, but they got right to it: “Dad, I’m gay.” Lucky was taken aback at first, but said everything a kid longs to hear — and deserves to hear — in that situation. Lucky reassured his son that he loves him without exception and expressed his hope that Aiden can believe that — despite Lucky’s long absences. “Nothing will change the way I feel about you,” he asserted. Aiden visibly exhaled, and said he finally felt like he could breathe.

Wisely, GH did not leave it there. Lucky asked Aiden about his life and learned his son started a baking business to earn money so he can study pastry making in Paris. They found common ground when Lucky told Aiden his parents ran the Triple L Diner in British Columbia where Grampa Luke did a lot of the cooking himself.

Yes, it’s sad that Lucky knew nothing about his teenaged son, but at least one giant hurdle is behind them. Can a Spencer family Thanksgiving be far behind?

Bold and Beautiful : Spencer Sons Unite

The Spencers are always a value add to the Forrester-centric B&B so it was a fun diversion to play the newly aged Will with his older brother Liam. The show went for comedy as the brothers sat down to eat at Il Giardino and two beautiful Forrester employees joined them. Liam initially pumped up Will as he tried to get his game on but then pulled out his phone to show pictures of his kids to the women. Naturally, he referenced their mothers. “Mothers?” replied Lainey. “You’ve been married twice?”

Haha, laughed Liam, he wished it was only twice. (He’s been married seven times.) Liam’s personal life took over the lunch as a frustrated Will could only sit back and watch. Post-fiasco, Will rightly accused his brother of being the worst wing man in the world and then planted the seed that perhaps Liam isn’t as done with Hope as he thinks he is.

Soaps rarely make fun of the fact that their characters get married too often, so kudos to B&B for going there — and showcasing the entertaining Spencer brothers in the process.

Young and Restless : Kyle Goes Too Far

Kyle’s disrespectful behavior towards his mother at Jabot created endless friction between Jack and Diane until Diane fired Kyle — and then it got worse. During yet another fight about their son, Jack and Diane got a press release announcing that Kyle’s new company, Glissade (owned by Victor), was releasing a revolutionary new sunscreen that Jabot had actually developed.

“There’s only one possibility,” spit Diane. “Kyle stole the formula.” Jack tracked Kyle down at home —yup, they still live together! — and threatened his son with corporate theft, adding that Kyle had no respect for the foundation John Abbott built at Jabot. Their fight clearly pained Jack, but Kyle was fine going scorched earth on his family even as his dad pointed out he’s become a pawn in Victor’s escalating vendetta against Jack. Claire later confirmed to Jack that Kyle is behaving more like Victor every day, which is not a compliment.

Looks like a reckoning is coming…

Days of our Lives : EJ Goes Full DiMera

It’s hard to sustain an effective bad guy — especially as a member of a core family — but EJ is giving it the ole DiMera try. He has the power to strong-arm anyone in Salem as District Attorney, which he’s currently doing to Sarah by rejecting her attempt to take back her false claim that Brady was the drunk driver that hit her. EJ’s argument is that a conviction has been promised to the mayor and he refuses to have egg on his face, so if Sarah retracts her statement he will have her arrested and charged with perjury. “Brady has agreed to 10 years in prison and as DA I will see to it that someone serves that sentence,” he asserted. “If it’s not Brady, it’s Sarah.”

The wrinkle here is that EJ’s sister Kristen is blackmailing Sarah into recanting her accusation in order to save Brady. Once Brady is free, Kristen will give Sarah a serum (developed by Dr. Rolf) to help her walk again. EJ is unaware of that, but he wouldn’t care if he did. He’s out to punish anyone involved in his wife Nicole leaving him, and Brady’s brother Eric (now living with Nicole) is top of the list.

It’s a round-robin of extortion and bribery that would make Stefano DiMera proud…. Like father, like son!

    The Worst

    GH: Lucky Trashes Bobbie's Diner

GH is to be applauded for beefing up the Spencer family with the return of Bobbie’s son Lucas , the imminent recovery of Luke and Laura’s daughter Lulu from a coma, and the aforementioned Lucky back from parts unknown. But the turn Lucky took when he learned he could not be Lulu’s liver donor was unnecessarily violent. He stormed into his cousin Carly’s diner (once owned by his great aunt Ruby; recently renamed for his late aunt Bobbie), ordered the customers to get out and trashed the place.

Inexplicably, his cousin Josslyn let him off the hook. Instead of holding Lucky accountable for vandalizing his family’s business, she covered up his involvement and lied to the police. Her logic was that Lucky must be devastated that he couldn’t be an organ donor for Lulu and therefore he needed a release. “This is the only safe place for him to do that,” she reasoned. “Any other place he would have been arrested.”

Rightly so! Lucky recently admitted he’s made some very bad choices in his life, and this selfish, destructive act proved he’s still making them. If he continues bratty behavior like this, Lucky doesn’t deserve to be part of the Spencer resurgence.... or Elizabeth's!

    Y&R: Sharon’s Saga Drags On

Lucy’s crying over her mother Heather’s death, Daniel is devastated and Sharon’s talking to herself like a mental patient about murdering people. Her family’s worried sick about her, yet they keep buying Sharon’s lame excuses about why she keeps disappearing. She walks in the house all spacey, insisting unconvincingly that she was out for a drive, must have turned her phone off, it’s not that late. Nick, Mariah and Faith hold clandestine meetings about her suspicious behavior, yet will not confront Sharon for her visibly unraveling behavior.

Viewers know Sharon is framing Daniel for Heather’s murder to avenge Daniel’s role in Sharon’s daughter Cassie’s death 21 years ago. So far, Sharon has outsmarted her ex-husband, her kids and the police while disposing of a body and planting evidence in Daniel’s apartment with no one seeing or suspecting it. “None of it adds up,” pronounced Daniel to Phyllis and Summer. He’s got that right.

The endless sadness is hard to watch, as is the slow (apparent) ruination of a popular leading lady. If there’s a twist coming, please make it soon!
