Fans have watched Kimberly McCullough grow up on General Hospital over the decades. She began playing the role of Robin Scorpio back in 1985 at the age of seven, and over the decades, grew into an adult while earning Daytime Emmy Awards for her performances. Heck, she even brought the character over to GH spinoff Port Charles, sister soap All My Children, and starred in the primetime spinoff, Night Shift! While some child stars in Hollywood struggle, McCullough grew up just fine by keeping her priorities straight.

“I’m often asked what it was like ‘growing up on television,’” she shared on Instagram with a photo of her and two of her old friends. “Although General Hospital was a big part of my life as I grew up, it wasn’t the most important part of my life. My focus was on whoever I was crushing on at the time and what me and my friends were going to do that weekend. Riding our bikes through the neighborhood, late-night chats on the phone, and long bus rides to the beach… that’s where I grew up. Been so nice to connect with old friends this summer and be proud of how much we’ve all grown.”

“Love you, Toni and Pam,” McCullough said after their get-together. Instagram

Before her breakout role in GH, a young McCullough appeared as a dancer in the cult classic Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo. Then, while working on the soap, the young actress played the recurring role of Jennifer on Once and Again and moonlighted in episodes of shows like Beauty and the Beast, Party of Five, Judging Amy, and The Shield. She could also be seen in movies like Bugsy, Consenting Adults, and Legally Blonde.

Although McCullough exited GH in 2016, she continued to make appearances in the years that followed, usually for the annual Nurses Ball. Her most recent visit to the soap was for the May 21, 2021 episode when Robin attended the memorial for Sean Donley, played by the late John Reilly.

Since leaving GH, McCullough has pivoted her career to become a very successful director, helming episodes of shows like Pretty Little Liars, Fuller House, One Day at a Time, The Connors, Fantasy Island, and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. She also welcomed her son, Otis, on June 7, 2017.

So the kid definitely turned out alright!
