Just a few weeks after former Days of Our Lives star Jessica Serfaty (ex-Sloan) retracted abuse allegations against her billionaire fiancé, the actress discovered that someone seems to be following her via a hidden tracking device.

On Aug. 19, TMZ reported that, according to law enforcement sources, Serfaty was in Malibu when her phone alerted her that an Apple AirTag was in her Range Rover. Concerned because she hadn’t put the tracking device in her SUV — nor had she seen one — Serfaty allegedly worried that someone had placed it to keep track of her.

Upon arriving at the scene, sheriff’s deputies searched Serfaty’s Range Rover but could not locate an AirTag in the luxury vehicle. It’s unclear if the device fell off or was removed.

The police took a report for “unauthorized use of an electronic device” and authorities are still trying to use the actress’ cell phone to track down the owner of the AirTag. Theories for the suspect’s motives include “stalking, burglary, or car theft.”

It’s not clear when the incident happened. Serfaty has not addressed it publicly, but she did share an inspirational quote from athlete Bethany Hamilton on her Instagram Stories the same day that TMZ published its report. “Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid. Courage means you don’t let fear stop you,” read the message.

The AirTag incident comes a little less than a month after Serfaty shared a video clip to her Instagram Stories in which she accused fiancé Leonardo Maria del Vecchio of hitting her. In the July 21 clip, the actress panned her camera to the Ray-Ban sunglasses president and heir before tearfully confessing, “This is the man who has abused me. And let it be known… who has caused my head to have… bleeding.”

The next day, however, Serfaty withdrew her claims. “Leo and I apologize for any who were triggered or affected by yesterday’s story,” she wrote in a statement, tagging del Vecchio. “Sometimes a family can have their own arguments, and these should never be made public… I would never stay with an abusive man… I revoke my words that were driven by anger and not in truth.”

We hope, for Serfaty’s peace of mind, that the authorities are able to track down the owner of the AirTag and solve the case.
