Dominic Zamprogna Opens up About Dante and Sam on GH

Dante and Sam have settled into a comfortable relationship on General Hospital, but with the soap looking to recast the role of his ex-wife, Lulu, things could go from comfortable to complicated in the blink of an eye!

While many fans have been eager for Lulu to wake up out of her coma so that she and Dante can reunite, Dominic Zamprogna has enjoyed exploring his character outside of that long-running relationship. “It was interesting to see who he was without her,” the actor confided to Soap Opera Digest, “because you saw who he was before her, but then he spent so much time with her and it started to feel like he was losing his own identity a little bit.”

After Zamprogna took some time off from GH in 2018, he returned in August 2020 where she found Lulu had moved on with Dustin. Then, in December, Dustin was killed in an explosion that left Lulu so injured that she fell into a coma. As Dante put his life back together, he found himself growing closer and closer to Sam and soon, romance blossomed!

“With Sam and Dante, there wasn’t this dependency on each other which it felt like Dante and Lulu constantly ended up having in the end,” Zamprogna explained. “Being back on the show, working with someone different, it brings up different things in the characters and we’ve brought out different things in each other [as actors]. That’s what I’ve enjoyed about it. And Kelly [Monaco, Sam] is fiery and fierce and always fun to work with.”

Lulu was about to confess she still loved Dante before she collapsed and wound up in a coma, so when she wakes up, she should still have those same feelings for her ex.
