Preview Rick Hearst's Return to GH!

Ever since it was announced that Rick Hearst was returning to General Hospital as Ric Lansing , fans have eagerly been awaiting his arrival. And while the actor initially told fans that he was first going to air in the Aug. 19 episode, that show came and went with no Ric anywhere to be seen.

“Psyche!” Hearst joked in an Instagram video posted later that day. “So sorry all of you that — well, I’m not sorry that you all tuned in today to see if I was actually on for the first time but unfortunately, I was not. I got the dates wrong. My bad. So thank you all for watching anyway. continue to do so… as the week goes on… the latter part of this week. I don’t want to give you definitives because I don’t want to stick my foot in my mouth again.”

Now it turns out that Ric will be arriving in Port Charles on Thursday, Aug. 22, when he shows up to support Molly at her daughter’s funeral. TV Insider shared a first look at the clip of the father and daughter reunion. “I didn’t know you were coming!” Molly exclaims. Ric explains: “Didn’t want my presence to be a distraction but Alexis and I talked about it and we agreed I needed to be here. Sorry, my flight was delayed. Baby, I’m so sorry… this is such a horrible loss.”

Soap hopper Hearst got his start as Scott Banning on Days of Our Lives back in 1989, then joined the cast of Guiding Light as Alan-Michael Spaulding in 1990. After exiting in 1996, he went on to appear as Matt Clark on The Young & The Restless, Whipple “Whip” Jones III on The Bold & the Beautiful. He first appeared as Sonny’s brother, Ric Lansing, on GH back in 2002 and remained with the soap until 2009.

The last time viewers saw Ric was back in 2016 when he left Port Charles after his scheme to marry Nina for her family fortune fell apart and his attempt to reconcile with Liz failed because she’d moved on with Franco. Is Ric only in town to attend the funeral and support Molly or will he stick around to get mixed up in more drama again? Stay tuned to find out!
