GH’s Rick Hearst Reveals Where Ric Lansing Has Been

Ric returned to General Hospital to support Molly as she mourned the death of the baby Kristina was carrying for her and TJ. Because while Ric has been staying away as he knows he’s persona non grata in Port Charles, he will always come when his daughter needs him.

“Elizabeth [Korte, GH’s co-headwriter] and I spoke [and I learned] that he’s been, probably, in the San Francisco and the L.A. area and has a very successful law practice, only high-powered cases,” Rick Hearst told Soap Opera Digest of his character. “This is what he does. This is what he thrives on. [His career] is his marriage, as it were. But the only other thing that he is completely and totally connected to in his life, really, is is daughter.

“She doesn’t look on her father as some sort of deified figure,” he added, “She looks on her father as a guy with mad flaws, a bad history that she’s obviously been privy to — from her mother, as well as probably from him; he’s had to have that discussion because she’s no dummy. And he respects that in her.”

Another person who also wants only the best for Molly is Alexis. However, she and Ric rarely ever see eye-to-eye where their daughter — or anything else, for that matter! — is concerned. “People say that Ric and Alexis hate each other, but I don’t think they do,” Hearst mused. “They’re contentious with each other. They’re each other’s worst enemy. And if they had the opportunity, they could be each other’s greatest champions, but they just both have too much ego in the way to cross that line. But bottom line, they will both fight for their daughter in the ways that they know how.”
