Please join us in congratulating General Hospital star Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) on her win for Best Actress at the 2024 Brisk Festival! “I won!” she enthused, sharing a pic of her holding the trophy up to her face. “In truth, I was not aware it was a contest til this weekend, but very honored to share this tragic story and so thrilled we made people cry.

“Thank you to Christian Rodrigo for creating this festival and Louis Fantasia for trusting me with your beautiful writing!” the actress continued. “Huge thanks to young Saten Simonian on the cello… a star in the making! Thoroughly enjoyed all the wonderful stories I saw on this stage.”

The Brisk Festival is an international theater festival featuring short plays that are no longer than 10 minutes each. This year was the fourth edition of the festival and it was held at the Morgan-Wixson Theater in Santa Monica, CA, from Aug. 10 through Sept. 8. There were 50 short plays, 31 in English and nine in Spanish.

On Aug. 22, LoCicero shared a photo of herself on stage with Simonian playing cello behind her as they performed Fantasia’s play, World Class. “Just me and the cellist,” she remarked. Very moving piece (I hope) about an ER doctor who took her own life during the pandemic. Partially true. Always an honor to tell a story in a theater.”

LoCicero got her big break playing Jocelyn Roberts Brown on Loving in 1995 and brought the character over to its short-lived spinoff, The City. She later played Sonia Toledo on One Life to Live in 2004 and joined the cast of GH as Olivia Falconeri in 2008, earning a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2015 for her work on the soap.

In addition to her work in daytime, LoCicero has had roles in numerous films and television series, and also enjoys moonlighting on the stage. ”I love my TV job,” she admitted on Instagram, “but you can’t beat going live.”
