Kelly Monaco Remembers Billy Miller

On the first anniversary of the tragic passing of soap vet Billy Miller , his former General Hospital co-star, Kelly Monaco , paid tribute for the first time to the man who played Drew to her Sam on the soap.

On Sept. 15, one year to the day that Miller lost his fight with bipolar disorder and took his own life , Monaco posted a mirror selfie of the smiling pair, with roses in their teeth, on Instagram. “Duces [sic], ‘I’ve got your back, and you always had mine,’” wrote the actress, who was close with Miller on screen and off. I will tell our story soon enough… I love and miss you… and beyond.”

The actress later edited her original post to tag the official Instagram accounts of GH , Disney, and Hulu, as well as executive producer Frank Valentini and ABC programming director Nathan Varni. Additionally, she called out Craig Erwich, President of Disney Television Group, and Rob Mills, Vice President of Alternative Series at ABC Studios, seemingly wanting to bring her post to their attention.

Deuces was a nickname the pair often used for each other, first shared by Monaco on Twitter/X back in 2017 when she posted a photo of herself on Miller’s back . The passage she quoted in her tribute refers to a message Miller once wrote on that same image . “To the best partner I have ever had — who has my back, and I have hers because it takes two! ‘Deuces,’” he lovingly penned to his close friend.

The tribute was not only the first time Monaco spoke about Miller’s death last year but also her first post since news broke in August that the actress would be written out of the soap after over two decades. While the soap’s only statement on Monaco’s exit is that the decision was “storyline dictated,” the actress has yet to publicly address her departure. GH needed to once again temporarily recast Sam with Lindsay Hartley for a handful of episodes airing this week.
