First Casting Announced for New Soap Beyond the Gates!

The first casting has been announced for the new CBS soap The Gates! And also a slight title change! The first new daytime drama to hit television since 1999 is now being officially titled Beyond the Gates . And three actresses have been cast as members of the Dupree family, the core clan of the new soap.

Tamara Tunie will be playing family matriarch Anita Dupree, a formerly famous singer who has raised two daughters with her now-retired senator husband. But behind her glamorous facade lies a strength she’s had since she grew up in Chicago. Tunie is well-known to soap fans for her many years playing Jessica Griffin on As the World Turns . Viewers might also recognize her from her 23 seasons as Dr. Melinda Warner on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit or her recurring roles in shows like Blue Bloods, The Good Wife, or Elementary.

Anita’s first daughter, Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson, will be played by Daphnee Duplaix . This competitive psychiatrist exudes warmth and compassion, but her life is only perfect from the outside. Duplaix’s previous daytime credits include playing Rachel Gannon on One Life to Live and Valerie Davis on Passions. She has also appeared on series like CSI: New York, Last Man Standing, and The Mindy Project as well as movies like I Married Who? , Beautiful Girl , and I Really Hate My Ex .

Karla Mosley stars as Anita’s other daughter, Dani Dupree, who is a former model turned “momager” who gave up her career for a family. A former wild child, Dani dropped out of school to pursue modeling and remains free-spirited. Mosley is known to CBS Daytime fans for playing Christina Moore Boudreau on Guiding Light and more recently, Maya Avant on The Bold & The Beautiful . She can also be seen in shows like Gossip Girl and Hart of Dixie and movies such as Deadly Cheer Mom and Burn After Reading .

Beyond the Gates is set in a suburb of Maryland near Washington D.C. that is one of the most affluent African American counties in the U.S.. Inside this gated community of fabulous mansions live the powerful Dupree family, but behind the glamorous facade lay secrets and scandals just waiting to be revealed!
