GH’s Parry Shen on a Brad and Lucas Reunion

When Lucas returned to General Hospital, one of the first things he did was to inform Brad that they were never ever going to get back together. Of course, soap fans know that means to expect exactly the opposite! And while he’s working opposite a new Lucas in Van Hansis, Parry Shen quickly found common ground with his new co-star.

“Off the bat, we both noticed we followed a lot of comic book artists on Instagram, so we broke the ice and bonded over that,” Shen told Soap Opera Digest. “I liked how he dove right into asking me about Brad and Lucas’ relationship — he’d done his own homework but wanted to get up to speed and on the same page as quickly as possible. So I was already impressed with his work ethic, but not surprised. I’d done my homework on him once I found out he was cast and had watched clips of his work as Luke on As the World Turns and on EastSiders. I’m an incredibly thorough cyber stalker.”

Of course, the history between Lucas and Brad is rather fraught, given that Brad lied about the little boy they were raising, having swapped babies with Nelle after the one they’d adopted tragically died on the way to the hospital. However, Brad has served his time in prison and now is trying to get his life back together again. A life he would naturally also like to include Lucas.

“I think gaining Lucas’ trust back is his first priority and hope,” Shen mused. “And maybe a far away, hopeful reach would be getting him back.”

Of course, winning Lucas back is going to be much easier said than done. “I feel Brad knows his actions need to show he’s a changed person or at least trying to change,” the actor admitted. And while he admits that if he were Brad’s friend he would advise him not to try again, Shen is personally hoping for a Lucas and Brad reunion. “Of course!” he enthused. “They have so much history together.”
