Son of CCR’s Doug Clifford Arrested In Connection With Homicide And Missing Person Cases
Brent Clifford, the son of Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer Doug Clifford, was arrested in Portola, California on Wednesday, August 14th. The arrest is tied to a homicide in Nevada along with a missing person case in California. A warrant for Clifford’s arrest was sent out by the Reno Police Department regarding the shooting death of William Andrews. On Sunday (August 11th), Andrews was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head. Authorities also allege that Clifford stole Andrews’ car and used it to flee the murder scene. Clifford’s girlfriend, Patricia Portella-Wright, was also reported missing on Friday (August 9th), and was believed to be in a vehicle that matched the description of Andrews’ Chevrolet Blazer. Clifford was arrested in Andrews’ vehicle after being spotted on a highway 50 miles northwest of Reno. On Thursday (August 15), an unidentified body that is believed to be Portella-Wright was found along a highway in Washoe County, Nevada. (Consequence of Sound)

Boise, ID (CBS2) — According to CBS an Idaho man has been arrested after investigators in California used DNA to link him to a 1973 cold case. Investigators in Marin County used DNA to link 75-year-old Michael Eugene Mullen to the 1973 sexual assault and killing of Nina "Nadine" Fischer.

CHP officer in critical condition after being struck by car on 5 Freeway in Sylmar
A California Highway Patrol officer was critically injured Sunday after being hit by a vehicle on the 5 Freeway in Sylmar. The collision unfolded around 3:32 a.m. on the thoroughfare at the 210 Freeway interchange in Sylmar. According to the CHP, the officer was assisting a disabled vehicle in the slow lane of the freeway when the officer was struck by a 2023 Tesla. The officer was taken to Providence Holy Cross Hospital, where he remains. He suffered "major" injuries and has been listed in critical condition. The southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway were closed near the 110 Freeway through Balboa Boulevard for several hours, but reopened before 10:45 a.m., authorities said. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to have been factors in the cause for the crash. "It is unknown at this time if any automated driving features were activated on the Tesla at the time of the crash," the CHP said in a news release. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information was asked to contact the CHP's Southern Division Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team at (323) 644-9550.

Police in the North Bay are mourning one of their own after a woman was killed in a crash by a suspected drunk driver in Santa Rosa.Officials say Jessica Avila Munoz, 31, was driving near Lombardi Court and Sebastopol Road on Friday when a car ran a red light and crashed into her.Police say the suspected drunk driver has four previous DUI arrests and was driving on a suspended license.The suspect is now in jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.MORE: San Jose community service officer killed by suspected drunk driver remembered as loving, kindMunoz was a member of the Sonoma County Probation Department and worked as a juvenile correctional counselor.Police say she was picking up her 13-year-old daughter from school when the crash happened.According to the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), Munoz attended Santa Rosa Junior College and Sonoma State University, where she earned a degree in Psychology and Administration of Justice.
