The News-Examiner recently sat down with Reagan Yamauchi of Soda Springs to discuss her time as Miss Idaho and what's next in her life. Here are her answers to our questions.

News-Examiner: What commitments and goals do you still have as Miss Idaho?

Reagan: My commitment is Idaho. My goal is to continue attending as many events as possible and being very present for the state I love. There are so many beautiful parts and pieces to this state and I hope to experience them all through speaking at schools, business events and community functions.

NE: What is your favorite Miss Idaho memory?

Reagan: Attending the Governor’s Cup was one of my favorite experiences. I was blessed to meet the top CEOs in the biggest businesses in Idaho. I also really enjoyed my time at the Capitol building with Sen. Mark Harris and learning about what takes place behind the scenes in Idaho.

NE: What have been some challenges you've faced while serving as Miss Idaho?

Reagan: One thing (I don’t know if I’d call it a challenge) I want people to know is that they can reach out to bookmissidaho@gmail.com and then I can be to their event. I feel that people are afraid to reach out because they feel that I’m “too busy.” Yea, sometimes we have to shuffle things around but I just want all of Idaho to reach out and see if we can get something booked.

NE: What do you currently like to do in your few moments of downtime?

Reagan: In my downtime, I enjoy relaxing with my family and loved ones.

NE: What would be the most important advice you’d share with young women?

Reagan: The best advice I could give to young girls is go and follow your passions. I was not what many people would label as a “pageant girl.” I grew up following other dreams I had and then realized they had a direct tie to influencing people so pageantry circled into my life. Maybe pageantry is for you… maybe it’s not. It doesn’t make any difference as long as you are doing what you love!

NE: What are your plans once your time as Miss Idaho is over?

Reagan: After Miss Idaho is finished I will be heading to BYU-Idaho to finish my bachelors degree in business.

NE: In recognition of International Women's Day being held on March 8, who have been some influential women in your life?

Reagan: I owe my life to my mother. With International Women’s Day she deserves some serious recognition. I never would have done so many things that I did if it weren’t for her. She has been the best example to me and everything I am I owe to her and my father. She will always be the woman I admire the most. Thank you is never enough.
