SODA SPRINGS — Oakley Peck of Soda Springs High School recently signed to play golf and continue her education at Simpson University in Redding, California, this fall.

Peck started her competitive golf journey her freshman year of high school and instantly fell in love with the game.

“Golf taught me a lot about the importance of working hard, having a good mentality, and remembering it’s OK to make mistakes and move on,” she said.

The game brought a rewarding challenge that Peck appreciated.

Peck didn’t take her next steps lightly and talked to many different coaches from a wide range of schools.

When Coach Dame reached out a second time, she couldn’t let the idea go.

“That’s when I knew this is where I needed to sign at Simpson University,” Peck said.

She hopes to improve everything about her golf game little by little, improving consistency and continually dropping strokes.

She’s excited to make new friends, meet new teammates and excel with golf and her education in business marketing.

Peck leaves the Cardinal golf program as an admired team member. Many looked up to her kind personality and respect for the game on the good days and the bad.

Peck said she wants to encourage young golfers to always push through the bad shots, move on and embrace each shot — good or bad.
