SODA SPRINGS — Caribou County is home to an accomplished athlete who frequently represents the U.S. on the international stage.

Christine (Hauger) Robinson grew up in Grangeville in north central Idaho. The drive to succeed was taught by the example set by her two parents who excelled as college athletes. Even at 80 years old, Robinson’s mother still is weightlifting, golfing and participating in Zumba classes.

Robinson started building her successes as a runner when she paid for her college education with running scholarships. She received her degree in photography and videography and worked at a newspaper and ran her own photography studio.

But she always was pulled back to running and fitness. Personal coaching and group fitness instruction is where her attention turned as she was training to compete in marathons and triathlons.

She has successfully represented the United States at the national and world championships for over 20 years.

Duathlons additionally became a racing favorite for Robinson. These events consist of a 5K run and then a 40K bike ride followed by an additional 10K run.

During her years of competitive running, Robinson has had the opportunity to race in 15 World Duathlon Championships bringing home a gold and two silver medals.

She has raced all over the world, making her mark not only in the United States but in Switzerland, Scotland, Spain and Canada.

Robinson has also had strong finishes in big name marathons such as the Boston Marathon, Tucson Marathon, Chicago Rock and Roll Half Marathon and many others.

Amazingly, Robinson has found a love for teaching and sharing her passion with youth. She went back to school to receive her teaching certificate and worked as a physical education, weightlifting and yearbook teacher for many years at Soda Springs High School.

Her family farm in Grangeville called her home to help with upkeep for the last few years but she returned to Soda Springs in February.

Recently, Robinson qualified with a time of 1:13:05 for a duathlon in Spain next year. She will also represent the U.S. in the duathlon at the world championships in Australia on Aug. 16.

“My parents have been incredible role models," Robinson said. "They encourage such positivity both mentally and physically. I am thankful for them and now for my husband who supports all my athletic adventures and goals. Competing is a lifelong passion and is very much a consistently lived lifestyle. Having amazing family support is a gift.”

Robinson continues to represent Idaho at the world level with her outstanding dedication to her love of fitness and running.

None of which she does alone. Husband Bradley is her number one supporter.

She loves to share her knowledge to inspire others to train and reach their goals.

Robinson has no desire to slow down and will undoubtedly continue to represent Idaho on the world athletic stage.
