LOS ANGELES - A man who escaped from a California prison camp in 2011 has been captured in New York City, officials announced Friday. Authorities said Eduardo Hernandez, 42, was arrested without incident May 20 and will soon be extradited back to California, where he could face charges for his escape in Solano County.

CALIFORNIA, USA — Extreme fire weather conditions have led Cal Fire to ban fireworks in its jurisdiction in Colusa, Lake, Napa, Solano, Sonoma and Yolo counties. Around 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit (Cal Fire LNU) said elevated fire weather conditions from Tuesday, July 2, to Saturday, July 6, created by the combination of extreme heat, low humidity and gusty winds, led authorities to ban fireworks.

Company G of the 10th Cavalry, better known to history as the Buffalo Soldiers, will be riding out of western history and into Peña Adobe Park again this year. The Buffalo Soldiers are a living history group that was established in the Sacramento area almost 30 years ago. The group recreates the black cavalry units that served in the Old West from 1866 to 1891.
Extreme fire risk across California ahead of holiday heat wave
Ahead of an anticipated extreme, lengthy heat wave, officials are warning of high fire danger across California for the holiday week. With hot, dry and windy conditions in the forecast, the National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for parts of the Sacramento Valley, Lake County and Solano County. The warning includes Vacaville, Clearlake, Yuba City, Chico, Red Bluff and Redding from 11 p.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Red flag warnings are issued when weather conditions “may result in extreme burning conditions,” according to the weather service.
