Volleyball Opens Season with Dominant Doubleheader Wins
NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — August 17, 2024 — The Bethel Threshers volleyball team kicked off their 2024 season with back-to-back victories in a doubleheader at Thresher Gym. Some Amtrak camp residents not surprised by City of Lawrence plan to vacate area
Some of the people living at the campsite behind the Amtrak station said Friday that they knew the City of Lawrence would likely soon close the camp. Karlin, who asked to be called by his first name only, said he’s lived at the Amtrak camp for about four years. He said he woke up to find Homeless Response Team members handing out flyers to the people living there on Friday, alerting them that they must vacate the camp by 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. The city later announced the plans in a news release.

KHP: Driver clocked traveling 104mph in 70mph zone
KHP Troopers across Kansas continue to see drivers traveling well above the posted speed limit, despite a statewide campaign to crack down on excessive speeding. On Sunday, KHP Trooper J. Davis issued a citation in Ottawa County, on U.S. 81 at milepost 178 northbound, according to a social media report from the KHP. The driver was clocked at 104 mph, far exceeding the 70 mph speed limit. For those wondering, a ticket like this totals $363 in fines.
