Lower Susquehanna Heritage Area gets state funds
ANNAPOLIS — Lower Susquehanna Heritage Area has received a portion of a $5.19 million award by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority to support four programs. The 87 matching grant awards will go to various projects across Maryland to support economic development and tourism. LSHG was awarded $253,450. One of seven heritage areas in the state, the Darlington-based non profit will assign $100,000 for Fiscal Year 2025 management grants. Another $25,000 will be assigned to award FY25 block grants to eligible non profits along the Susquehanna River in Cecil and Harford counties. Hamer’s Town Art Center in Havre de Grace received $100,000 though the heritage area, and $28,450 will be spent on roof repairs for the Susquehanna Lock House Museum.
Gary Courtney Stewart Wanted For Assaulting Woman In MD
An alert has been issued by the Charles County Sheriff's Office as they attempt to locate a wanted man from DC who allegedly assaulted a woman. Officers were called at around 12:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 to the 2300 block of Alava Court in Waldorf, where there was an assault investigation involving 50-year-old Gary Courtney Stewart, who was able to flee the area before they arrived.

SUN: New Key Bridge expected to be 24% taller than predecessor
BALTIMORE, Md. — The new Francis Scott Key Bridge is expected to be longer and taller than its fallen predecessor, but not steeper. A 143-page Maryland Transportation Authority document seeking a “categorical exclusion” — meaning the rebuild won’t require a yearslong process analyzing alternative bridge possibilities — was approved by the Federal Highway Administration this week.
