(WJW) – Law enforcement officers in multiple cities and counties have announced planned sobriety checkpoints for Friday, August 2.
In Solon, police will be conducting a checkpoint near Aurora Road.
Researchers may have found the cause of autism An OVI checkpoint is also planned in Summit County Friday into Saturday, August 3.
The Summit County location has not been announced.
There was supposed to be a checkpoint in Sandusky County Friday night, but due to inclement weather, it has been postponed until a later date. The checkpoint was supposed to be on Rawson Ave. in Fremont.
“State troopers make an average of 25,000 OVI arrests each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers,” the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a press release. “OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.”

Sobriety checkpoints are funded by federal grants.
