CROWNSVILLE — Summer is well along, and the Muellers could be headed to a theme park, the beach, or even visiting family and friends for the weekend. Instead, Sascha and his wife, Aubrey, are eagerly anticipating a three-day convention with thousands of people who will commute from the Eastern Shore to hear exciting good news!

Between the two of them, Aubrey and Sascha, who currently live in Crisfield, have attended 50 years of conventions. “Over the years, the programs have helped us replace anxiety and stress with happiness and brotherhood,” explained Sascha. “Being surrounded by others who love God strengthens our faith and hope for the future.” Aubrey added: “For those three days, we forget the hustle of daily life. We learn about our wonderful Creator and how we can imitate His son, Jesus.”

One of the largest convention organizations in the world returns to the Crownsville Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with a much-anticipated motivational program to comfort and encourage the public.

In a world where bad news endlessly streams on social media, TV and radio, Jehovah’s Witnesses will present their 2024 “Declare the Good News!” convention series every Friday through Saturday through Aug. 23-25. Many members of the Westover Kingdom Hall in particular are planning to attend the July 5-7 free event which is expected to draw more than 12,000 attendees in total.

“We are so excited to travel to Crownsville this year for our convention series,” said John Gay, local spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “It’s a beautiful learning center, and to know that for three days we are going to focus on nothing but good news makes us excited to share what we have learned when we get back to the Shore!”

The “Declare the Good News!” convention will present Bible-based videos, discourses and interviews on topics such as:

    • Why Do We Need Good News? (1 Corinthians 9:16; 1 Timothy 1:12)
    • Use the Good News to Defeat Bad News
    • Why We Don’t Fear Bad News (Psalm 112:1-10)

Saturday features a baptism of candidates from surrounding communities, while a two-part video feature will captivate the audience on Friday and Saturday mornings. Prior to each convention, local congregations will engage in a campaign to invite community members to this free event.

Last year, nearly 13 million people attended more than 6,000 three-day conventions worldwide.
