    Somerset man dies after coal truck crash in Pineville

    PINEVILLE, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A Somerset man has died in a fatal crash involving a coal truck in Bell County.

    According to the Bell County Sheriff’s Department (BCSD), it happened before 2:30 p.m. on Monday on U.S. Highway 119 near Kentucky Highway 2012.

    Authorities said that a Red Bull delivery truck reportedly rear-ended a fully loaded coal truck after the coal truck pulled onto U.S. Highway 119 “moving very slowly.”

    The delivery driver was identified as 53-year-old Denton “Denny Lee” Oakes of Somerset, per BCSD. The coal truck driver was uninjured.

    Authorities said that drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as factors in the crash.
