Detour planned for Glades Pike beginning Monday

PennDOT is informing motorists of a detour for Route 31 (Glades Pike) in Somerset Township, from 7 a.m. Monday through next Thursday.

A four-day traffic detour will be in place using routes 31, 381, 653 and 281 while crews replace a 72-inch pipe. During this time, Route 31 will remain open to westbound traffic from Somerset Borough until the area near Marteeny Road. Eastbound traffic will be able to use Route 31 from Lavansville to the Windsor Street area. PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for directions from flaggers.

The pipe replacement is part of a $3.3 million project contracted to New Enterprise Stone & Lime, New Enterprise, that includes pavement resurfacing, and drainage and guardrail updates on Route 31 from Barn Swallow Road in Jefferson Township to the Somerset Borough line. The tentative completion date is October 2024.
