Waterfowl-licensed hunters can now apply for the annual goose/duck hunt blind drawing at the Quemahoning Reservoir, according to Rick Ames, operations manager for the Cambria-Somerset Authority, which owns the reservoir.

Applications will be accepted throughout July, and there is no fee to apply. Those who want to enter the drawing can do so by contacting the authority office at 814-532-8851 or csa@cambriasomersetwater.com.

The drawing to select the names and assign the blind locations will be held on Aug. 1, before the CSA's monthly board meeting.

The drawing is intended to try to decrease the goose and duck populations at the reservoir and reduce droppings, which can lead to contamination of the public swimming area at the Quemahoning Family Recreation Area, Ames said.
