Phoenix drunken driving deaths soared last year
Fatalities in drunken-driving accidents within Phoenix city limits doubled in 2023 over the prior year and accounted for over a third of all crash deaths recorded in Phoenix. Data from the state Department of Transportation’s 2023 Arizona Motor Vehicle Crash Facts report show that 109 of all 307 crash fatalities in Phoenix far exceeded the 51 DUI deaths in 2022.
Tempe man, clinic linked to $85.6M in fraud schemes
A local man and an unrelated Tempe clinic are the focus of separate state and federal cases alleging over $85.6 million in Medicaid and Medicare fraud.
