A Boston-based Mexican eatery is gearing up to welcome guests to its fifth location at 475 Revolution Dr in Somerville ’s Assembly Row , taking over the space once occupied by Sabroso Taqueria, which still has two downtown Boston locations. President and owner Amir Shiranian told What Now Boston that Amelia’s Taqueria is set to debut on April 1, 2024.

Upon opening, Amelia’s will join its siblings on Brighton and Huntington Ave, as well as locations at Boston and Berklee colleges. The eatery serves a range of Mexican-inspired fare, including tacos, burritos, nachos, quesadillas, and Mexican plates. Alcohol is also available.

Despite temporarily removing tortas from the menu during the pandemic, Shiranian said that the popular sandwiches will return at the forthcoming Somerville location. Furthermore, he plans to introduce a gluten-free menu for those with a gluten intolerance.

Excitingly, Shiranian has broader expansion plans across Massachusetts. Although he has not disclosed specific locations at this time, he did reveal that the other locations will be in the Boston area. Keep an eye out for updates as more Amelia’s Taqueria sites are unveiled.
