CCL-North Divisional Round: Walnut Creek Crawdads 5, Sonoma Stompers 2

The Stompers’ historic summer campaign came to an end Wednesday night as they fell to the top-seeded Crawdads in the California Collegiate League playoffs.

It was the first foray into the CCL playoffs for Sonoma since joining the league in 2022. The Stompers end the season at 31-18. Walnut Creek advances to the CCL Championship series in Southern California this weekend.

The Stompers were stymied offensively Wednesday evening, managing just two hits and facing a 5-0 deficit heading into the ninth. Darvin Scott (Menlo College) drove in their two runs with a home run in the top of the ninth.

Walnut Creek starter Jaxon Byrd (Sacramento State) allowed just one hit and two walks with eight strikeouts in six innings for the win and Drew Aguiar (Cal State Monterey Bay) struck out four with just one hit allowed over the final three innings.
