Cracking Down on Illegal Game Room: Shutting Down Unauthorized Gambling

Constable Mark Herman's Criminal Investigations Division recently took action to shut down an illegal game room following reports of illicit activities occurring at a premises on Spring Cypress Road. Through an undercover operation, it was successfully verified that the establishment was indeed engaged in unauthorized gambling activities. Subsequently, investigators secured and executed a search warrant to address the situation.

During the course of this operation, approximately $3,000.00 in suspected gambling proceeds, multiple illegal gambling devices, and documentation supporting illegal gambling activities were confiscated from the premises. Criminal charges were brought against the individual Wijayarupa, Chamindy Mahadurage, specifically for the possession of Gambling Device Paraphernalia.

Illegal gambling venues serve as magnets for a wide array of criminal activities that jeopardize the safety of our community. Constable Herman aims to raise awareness among the public about the adverse effects of these illicit gambling establishments, which operate in direct contradiction to the Peace and Dignity of the State of Texas. The profits generated from these establishments often channel into funding highly pernicious criminal enterprises.
