‘Armed and Dangerous’ Homicide Suspect Sought by Police
33-year-old Markus Tyrelle Dowdy is being sought by Montgomery County Police in connection with a shooting in White Oak that left one man dead and another injured. According to MCPD, 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the America’s Best Wings restaurant in the 11200 block of New Hampshire Ave. at approximately 5:51 p.m. on November 4. When officers arrived, they found two adult male victims with apparent gunshot wounds.

Police Make Multiple Arrests for Carjacking, Auto Theft
Montgomery County Police reported thirteen arrests on Monday, all related to stolen or carjacked vehicles. Around 12:29 p.m. on Monday, an officer from the 3rd District spotted two vehicles that had been taken in armed carjackings: a Nissan Sentra and a Honda Accord near Georgia and Wayne Avenues in downtown Silver Spring. The officer followed one of the vehicles and waited for backup.
Mojomala to Open Dec. 2 in Downtown Silver Spring
Mojomala Books, Records & Cool Stuff is set to open on Saturday, December 2 in downtown Silver Spring. The shop, which is located near Silver Branch Brewing Co. in the Silver Spring Metro Plaza building at 8401 Colesville Road, will be having its grand opening from Noon to 7 p.m. In celebration of the opening, Mojomala will be offering a 20% discount on all items, as well as providing light refreshments and giveaways.
Crave Café Updates Operating Hours
Crave Café has updated its operating hours to 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. The change was announced on Instagram last week. Crave Café opened in May at 1200 East-West Highway in downtown Silver Spring, taking over the former location of Bump ‘n Grind. The café is operated by the Miskiri Hospitality Group, known for operating Miss Toya’s Creole House in the Downtown Silver Spring development.
Ellsworth Place Residiential Plans Revealed
The Ellsworth Place residential project details have been revealed ahead of a virtual community meeting on Wednesday evening. Last week, we reported that Brentwood, Tenn.-based GBT Realty submitted plans to the county to expand Ellsworth Place in downtown Silver Spring by adding residential space on top of the building. The project aims to include about 425,593 square feet of residential space on 91,248 square feet of available land. The building is within the zoning area designated by the Silver Spring Downtown & Adjacent Communities Plan, which the County Council approved last year.

Dominique Dawes Inducted Into Athletic Hall of Fame
Dominique Dawes has once again made history by becoming the first gymnast to be inducted into the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame. Silver Spring native “Awesome Dawesome” achieved a historic milestone as the first African-American gymnast to qualify for and compete in the Olympics. She garnered 15 U.S. Championships from 1991 to 1996 and further cemented her legacy in 1996 by becoming the first African-American to earn an individual medal in Olympic gymnastics, securing a bronze medal in the floor exercises. Dawes, a three-time Olympian, was a member of the “Magnificent Seven,” the trailblazing American team that clinched gold in women’s gymnastics at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta (video below).
All Set, J. Hollinger’s Offering To-Go Thanksgiving Meals
If you prefer not to cook for Thanksgiving, you can opt for to-go meals from the All Set and Hollinger Group restaurants this year. This holiday season, Ed Reavis, co-owner and chef of All Set Restaurant & Bar, Money Muscle BBQ, and Fryer’s Roadside, is offering a customizable Thanksgiving dinner to-go for four people. Diners can choose from four main dishes inspired by each of Reavis’ culinary concepts: deep-fried turkey, smoked turkey, smoked ribeye with horseradish cream (an additional $50), and seared salmon with dill cream sauce. Each meal includes Reavis’ skillet cornbread, mashed potatoes, gravy, brioche stuffing, brussels sprouts, garlic string beans, cranberry sauce, and chocolate chip cookies. The $195 Thanksgiving meal is served cold but comes with reheating instructions for at-home preparation, and can be ordered online through Sunday, November 19th.

Police: Third Bonifant Street Murder Suspect Arrested, Fourth Remains at Large
Montgomery County Police say that a third suspect wanted in connection with the March 5 shooting death of Deandre Keith Ellis has been arrested. Butler Township Police located D’Andre Lukes in Drums, Pennsylvania, and took him into custody. He is currently being held in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition to Montgomery County, according to an MCPD press release.

Police: Suspects Sought in Ruatan Street Shooting
Montgomery County Police are asking for the public’s help identifying suspects caught on surveillance video during an October 26 shooting on Ruatan Street in Silver Spring. Officers from the 3rd District responded to the 1000 block of Ruatan Street at approximately 4:24 p.m. on October 26 for a report of a shooting, according to an MCPD press release. Detectives determined that two groups of individuals exchanged gunfire on the front and side of an apartment building on Ruatan Street. Immediately following the shooting, one group walked toward Quebec Terrace, while the other drove away in a white Honda Civic with black rims and tinted windows.
