Cielo Rojo’s Pozole Verde Featured in ‘Signature Dish’
Cielo Rojo’s Pozole Verde has been featured in the season premiere of WETA’s Signature Dish. During the first episode of Signature Dish’s second season, which aired Monday night, host Seth Tillman visited Preserve in Annapolis and Caruso’s Grocery in Capitol Hill, as well as Cielo Rojo (video below). 20-Year-Old Man Sentenced in Fatal Stabbing
20-year-old Dakari Thomas was sentenced last week in connection with a fatal stabbing on Ellsworth Drive in 2021. According to the county’s State’s Attorney’s Office, Thomas was sentenced to 25 years in prison with all but 12 suspended, plus five years of supervised probation. He was recommended to be a part of the Patuxent Youthful Offenders program while incarcerated.
Fall Makers Market Set for Saturday in Downtown Silver Spring
Downtown Silver Spring will host the Fall Makers Market this Saturday. The shopping event featuring unique and handmade products from local artisans will take place along Ellsworth Drive between Georgia Ave. and Fenton St. on Saturday, September 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Besides the more than 35 local artisans, the Fall Makers market will include live music and outdoor dining options.
Police: Silver Spring Man Missing Since August 8
Jose Rauda-Ayala, 42, has been missing since August 8, and Montgomery County Police are asking for the public’s help in locating him. Rauda-Ayala was last seen Tuesday, August 8 in the 500 block of Thayer Ave., according to an MCPD news release. Rauda-Ayala is 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes, and has a medium complexion. It is unknown what clothing he was wearing.
County to Host Career Fair & Hiring Expo on October 3
Montgomery County Government will host a Career Fair & Hiring Expo in October, officials announced. Taking place at the Silver Spring Civic Building in downtown Silver Spring from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, the free hiring event is the county’s second of the year. According to a press release, one of the seven attendees of the county’s first Career Fair & Hiring Expo in May received a contingent job offer.

Suspects Sought in Attempted Robbery, Hit-and-Run
Montgomery County Police are searching for suspects involved in an attempted robbery and hit-and-run. 4th District officers responded to a report of an assault in the 11000 block of Conti Place on Friday, September 15, at approximately 11:45 a.m. A preliminary investigation indicates that the victim, part of a group of people, was approached by individuals who got out of a light grey Hyundai Elantra, assaulted, and attempted to rob the victim. According to an MCPD news release, one of the suspects was armed with a handgun.
