A winning lottery ticket worth $41,385 was sold at Corner Market in Silver Spring last month, according to the Maryland Lottery. A 71-year-old plumber from Takoma Park, who has not been identified, had just picked out two scratch-off tickets at Corner Market when he discovered an extra $4 in his pocket. He added a cold drink and one Racetrax ticket to his purchase, according to a press release.

Work Begins on Childcare Center at Former Silver Spring Library Site
Construction of a childcare center began this month at the former Silver Spring Library site at 8901 and 8907 Colesville Road near downtown Silver Spring. The county’s Department of General Services issued a Request for Development Proposals for the county-owned parcel in 2016. The County Council decided to develop the former Silver Spring Library site as an early childhood education and development center, with the Planning Board approving the preliminary plans for the facility in 2021.
Police: Wanted Murder Suspect Turns Himself In
Montgomery County Police say that Lawrence Marcellus Marshall IV, 20, has been arrested in connection with a homicide committed on July 5. Marshall IV turned himself in Thursday at the Montgomery County Department of Police 6th District Station in Gaithersburg. Marshall IV was wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Cedric Warner of Silver Spring.

Missing Teen Last Seen at Dunkin’ Donuts in White Oak
Montgomery County Police are seeking help in locating 16-year-old Hagan Rousseau, who has been missing since July 29. Montgomery County Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 18-year-old Juan Machado, who has been missing since June 14. Machado was last seen Wednesday, June 14 in the 1700 block of Mt. Pisgah Lane, according to an MCPD press release. 29-year-old Victoria Sok of Silver Spring has been arrested and charged with auto theft by Montgomery County Police.
