Police Investigating Attempted Mail Theft
Police in Takoma Park are investigating an attempted mail theft that occurred last Saturday evening. Officers responded to the 6500 block of Highland Avenue at approximately 6:58 p.m. on August 5 for a report of attempted mail theft, according to Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. There was an unknown suspect who stole mail from the victim’s mailbox. The victim pursued the suspect, who put the mail back in the mailbox and fled on foot.

Montgomery County Police are seeking help in locating 12-year-old Maribel Mackenzee Galeas, who has been missing since August 3. Construction in Progress at Tacos Way Restaurant
Construction is in progress at the upcoming Tacos Way restaurant in downtown Silver Spring. We reported last year that Tacos Way Mexican Grill would take over the space once occupied by iStar Coffee at 8777B 1st Ave. in the Arrive Silver Spring apartment building (formerly The Point Silver Spring). Uniqlo and Gold’s Gym have installed signage in preparation for their anticipated openings.
