Wine Spectator has awarded Locavino wine café at 8519 Fenton St. in Downtown Silver Spring its fourth consecutive Award of Excellence. In the 2023 Wine Spectator awards, announced last week, more than 3,500 restaurants around the world were recognized for their wine programs. Locavino was the only locally-owned restaurant to receive a Wine Spectator award out of five restaurants in Montgomery County, including The Capital Grille, Fogo de Chão, Morton’s, The Steakhouse, and Seasons 52.

Planet Fitness will open new locations at 2201 Randolph Rd. in Wheaton and at 6881 New Hampshire Ave. in Takoma Park, according to a company announcement. Construction will begin soon on the new gyms, which will be located in shopping centers with Lidl grocery stores. The two locations are expected to open by the end of the year.
