Three Suspects Arrested in Silver Spring Carjacking
Police in Takoma Park say that three suspects have been arrested in a carjacking that occurred in Silver Spring on Tuesday afternoon. A carjacking was reported at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday by Montgomery County Police; the vehicle had just been stolen from Silver Spring and was heading to Takoma Park, according to Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. Later that day, Takoma Park police observed the carjacked vehicle in the 8100 block of Carroll Ave. but lost sight of it at New Hampshire Ave. and Merrimac Drive. A few minutes later, the carjacked vehicle was found in the 6300 block of New Hampshire Ave. Three suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot as officers approached. All three suspects were apprehended.
Hexagon Political Comedy Revue Returns at New Silver Spring Location
The Hexagon nonprofit political comedy troupe will make its post-pandemic return at a new location in Silver Spring on Friday evening. “Washington’s Only Political Satirical Musical Comedy Revue” will relaunch with eight live shows from April 21-29 at the Cultural Arts Center of Montgomery College, located at 7995 Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring.
Cold Case Detectives: Silver Spring Woman Missing Since August 2022
Detectives from the county’s Cold Case Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 25-year-old Wudaise Melese from Silver Spring. Melese was last seen on Monday, August 1, 2022, in the 3400 block of Landing Way, according to Montgomery County Police. Melese is 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs approximately 120 pounds, and she has brown hair and brown eyes.
Koité Grill Opens New Food Trailer: Report
Senegalese restaurant Koité Grill has opened a new food trailer, according to a report from The MoCo Show. A brother-and-sister team from the Koité family will operate the food trailer at 2030 West Virginia Ave. NE in the District from Thursday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. They will also be at the RFK Stadium Farmers Market on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Artivate Inc., a Silver Spring-based arts organization, has been acquired by Levine Music, officials of the two organizations announced. Artivate “through alliances with artists, arts organizations, museums, community-based groups, and service agencies, it has brought culturally diverse programs—in theater, dance, drawing, and singing—directly to DC-area schools and communities, including public libraries, schools, botanical gardens, museums, and theaters,” according to its website.
Woman Injured in Domestic Assault, Police Say
Montgomery County Police say a woman was injured in a domestic assault Wednesday afternoon in downtown Silver Spring. Police spokesperson Casandra Tressler Durham confirmed that officers from the Third District responded to the 8700 block of Cameron St. at approximately 2:59 p.m. Wednesday for the report of an assault. The officers were able to determine that there had been a domestic incident.
Suspect Sought in Armed Robbery at Takoma Park 7-Eleven
Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred early Wednesday morning at a 7-Eleven store in Takoma Park. Officers responded at approximately 1:44 a.m. on Wednesday to the 7-Eleven store in the 900 block of Merrimac Drive for a report of an armed robbery that had taken place earlier, according to Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. Upon entering the 7-Eleven, the suspect displayed a black handgun and demanded cash. The employee complied and the suspect fled on foot from the store towards Carroll Ave.
Three-Year-Old Boy Falls From Second-Floor Window in Takoma Park
A three-year-old boy fell from a second-floor apartment window in Takoma Park Wednesday afternoon, according to police. Takoma Park Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday to the 1100 block of Linden Ave. for a report of a 3-year-old male falling from the second-floor window of an apartment building, according to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. Injuries sustained by the child were not life-threatening, and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police: Takoma Park Teen Missing Since February
Montgomery County Police are again asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Takoma Park teen who has been missing since February. 16-year-old Jennifer Soto Muralles was last seen on Thursday, Feb. 2, between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the 8500 block of Greenwood Ave., according to MCPD. Muralles stands approximately 5 feet, 4 inches tall, weighs approximately 120 pounds, and has blue hair and brown eyes. She has a tattoo of a flower on her hand and another on the inside of her left forearm. The last time she was seen, she was wearing a brown t-shirt, a gray sweater, black pants, and black boots.

Police: Victim Met Armed Robbery Suspect on Social Media Site
Police in Takoma Park are seeking assistance from the public in identifying suspects in an armed robbery that occurred early Friday morning at Forest Park. According to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy, officers responded at approximately 1:51 a.m. on April 7 to the area of Prince George’s Ave. and Elm Ave. (Forest Park) in response to a report of an armed robbery. Three suspects approached the victim in Forest Park, one of them with what appeared to be a white rifle with a scope, and another with a baseball bat. The suspects demanded property from the victim, who complied. They tied the victim’s hands and told him to remain on the ground until they were gone. The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction; the victim freed himself and notified police.
