Suspects Sought in Armed Carjacking, Assault
Police in Takoma Park are asking for the public’s help identifying suspects in an armed carjacking and assault that occurred early Thursday morning. Officers responded at around 5:30 a.m. on March 23 to an armed carjacking that occurred at the Marathon Gas station in the 6400 block of New Hampshire Ave., according to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. The victim was getting ready to enter his vehicle when he was approached by two male suspects wearing black ski masks and dark clothing; one from behind him and the other from in front of him. In addition to striking the victim in the face with a gun, the suspects demanded at gunpoint the keys to the victim’s automobile.
Police: Takoma Park Teen Missing Since March 24
Takoma Park police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 14-year-old Morlu Kollie, who has been missing since March 24. The last time Kollie was seen was at approximately 1 p.m. on March 24 in the 600 block of Houston Ave., according to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. Plevy describes Kollie as a Black male who is 5’8″, 130 pounds, has short blonde hair, and is thin. He was last seen wearing a red hooded jacket, ripped blue jeans, gray with white Jordan sneakers, and a tan winter hat.

Police in Takoma Park are asking for the public’s help in identifying three suspects involved in an armed carjacking that occurred early Thursday morning. Officers responded at approximately 4:21 a.m. on Thursday to the Sunoco gas station in the 6300 block of New Hampshire Ave. for a report of an armed carjacking, according to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. A dark-colored sedan pulled into the gas station at the same time as the victim. The vehicle was exited by two male suspects, one of whom appeared to be carrying a black handgun. The suspects demanded property from the victim, and he complied with their demands. After jumping into the victim’s vehicle, the suspects fled toward the District. The dark-colored sedan was driven by a third suspect.
AFI Silver Theatre Director to Retire After Nearly 50 Years of Service

Suspect Sought in Takoma Park Strong-Arm Carjacking
Police in Takoma Park are investigating a strong-arm carjacking that occurred Monday morning. Officers were dispatched at approximately 8:50 a.m. on Monday to the 7000 block of Carroll Ave. for the report of a carjacking that had just occurred, according to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. An unknown suspect approached the victim’s vehicle window and demanded property from her. The victim complied by opening her window slightly. The suspect took advantage of that opportunity to open the victim’s door from the inside and order her to exit the vehicle. The victim complied with the suspect, who last saw the vehicle driving down Carroll Ave. toward the District, Plevy said.

A new digital-only Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant is set to open in the former home of Little Caesars Pizza at the Briggs Chaney Marketplace. There is no dining area in the “Chipotlane” Digital Kitchen, located at 13801 Outlet Drive. Citizens & Culture, a new restaurant slated for downtown Silver Spring, will feature live music and ‘DMV’ cuisine, according to a report from MoCo360. The 15,000-square-foot restaurant will seat approximately 500 people and features a retractable roof, an outdoor patio, and garden walls. A variety of local ingredients will be utilized on the menu in order to create flavors inspired by Ethiopian, Chinese, Thai, and West Indian cuisines, which are abundant in this region, according to the report.

Fire at Aspen Hill Home Likely Caused by Dishwasher
A hardwired dishwasher likely caused a fire at a home in Aspen Hill on Saturday morning, according to Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer. A fire broke out in an unoccupied basement apartment of a two-story, single-family home in the 14400 block of Big Bear Court. Upon arrival, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly, and it is believed that the dishwasher in the basement kitchen was the likely source of the fire.

Police in Takoma Park are investigating after a woman was assaulted by someone she met through a dating app. Officers responded to the 7700 block of Maple Ave. at approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to an emailed community advisory from police spokesperson Ron Hardy. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman had been cut on her leg and sexually assaulted. According to the woman, she met her attacker through a dating app.
