Red Lobster has reportedly closed dozens of restaurants nationwide, including Columbia, Gaithersburg, Laurel, and Downtown Silver Spring. Rochester, N.Y.-based restaurant liquidator TAGeX Brands announced this week that it will auction off equipment from over 50 closed Red Lobster sites as part of the seafood chain’s “footprint rationalization” strategy.

Montgomery County Police are asking for the public’s help locating 16-year-old Zakur Brown, who has been missing since April 1. According to a press release, Brown was last seen in the 300 block of Flannery Lane. The missing teen is described as being 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair styled in locs.
Solaire Social: Downtown Silver Spring’s First Food Hall Opens Its Doors Friday
The highly anticipated Solaire Social, the first of two upcoming food halls in downtown Silver Spring, will open this Friday, May 17. The 13,000-square-foot dining destination and bar, designed by Philadelphia’s Eimer Design, is located on the ground floor of the 27-story, 403-unit Solaire 8200 Dixon apartment building. Solaire Social’s curated collection of nine artisan concepts was handpicked by chef and restaurateur Akhtar Nawab of Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Hospitality HQ.

Donohoe Development recently unveiled plans for an ambitious industrial construction project in Silver Spring. The Bethesda-based developer announced in April that it plans to build four buildings totaling 400,000 square feet on the roughly 10-acre industrial parcel at 8800 Brookville Road. The lot currently houses a radio tower and several businesses, including a branch office of Laytonsville-based Ruppert Landscape, the area’s most prominent commercial landscaper.
