Theft Warning: Takoma Park Police Respond to Unlocked Vehicle Incident at Gas Station
Police in Takoma Park advise residents not to leave vehicles unlocked while refueling at gas stations to prevent theft incidents. Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy stated that on Tuesday at around 9:42 a.m., the Takoma Park Police received a report of theft from a vehicle at the Sunoco gas station on New Hampshire Ave. According to Plevy, while the victim was inside the store, two unidentified male suspects approached the victim’s vehicle in a late model blue BMW with D.C. tags. One of the suspects got out of the BMW, took belongings from the victim’s car, and then got back into the BMW, which drove off south on New Hampshire Ave. towards the District.

Fatal Accident: Pedestrian Struck by Two Vehicles, Succumbs to Injuries
A pedestrian died after they were struck by two vehicles in Montgomery Hills on Tuesday night. A Montgomery County Police spokesperson reported last night that at around 8:04 p.m., 3rd District officers and the county’s Fire & Rescue Service were sent to the 9500 block of Georgia Ave. following a pedestrian collision. The initial details suggest that the pedestrian was hit by two vehicles, resulting in the pedestrian’s death at the scene.

Police Drone Aids in Arrest of Seven Teens After Shots Fired Incident
Montgomery County Police say that seven teenagers were arrested in connection with a shooting incident near Sligo Middle School on Friday afternoon. An MCPD press release stated that officers from the 4th District responded to a call about shots being fired at University Boulevard West at Gable Street around 1:22 p.m. on Friday. The officers reported that a group of teenage males, mostly dressed in black, fled towards Sligo Creek Parkway near Tenbrook Drive. To aid in locating the teenagers, the Raven 2 drone was deployed.
Weekend Construction Update: Red Line Service Closure at Fort Totten, Brookland Stations
Metro’s Red Line will close this weekend between Takoma and Rhode Island Ave. stations, with no Red Line service at Fort Totten and Brookland on Saturday and Sunday. Justice Prevails: OnStar Assists Takoma Park Police in Car Theft Arrest
26-year-old Anthony Gomes from Silver Spring was taken into custody by Takoma Park Police this week for the unauthorized use of a stolen vehicle. According to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy, the incident took place on Tuesday, Feb. 6 around 5:17 p.m., when officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at the Sunoco gas station in the 6900 block of New Hampshire Ave. The vehicle, which was fitted with OnStar technology, was tracked to its location through pinging after the ignition was remotely disabled. Upon reaching the scene, officers found the suspect, identified as Gomes, still inside the stolen vehicle, which had been reported stolen from Howard County.
