Metro Announces Red Line Closures for Martin Luther King Jr. Day Weekend
Construction for the Maryland Purple Line project will impact Red Line Metro service from Saturday, Jan. 13 through Monday, Jan. 15. During this time, there will be no train service between Takoma and Forest Glen stations, with Red Line trains running in two segments: between Shady Grove and Takoma, and Forest Glen and Glenmont. Free shuttles will be available between the Takoma, Silver Spring, and Forest Glen stations.

Progress Report: Solaire Social Food Hall in Downtown Silver Spring
Construction continues at Solaire Social, located on the first floor of the Solaire 8200 Dixon apartment building in downtown Silver Spring. The development of the 11-vendor food hall is being overseen by Chef Akhtar Nawab of Hospitality HQ, with ADI Construction based in Springfield, Va., handling the build. January 14th: No More Appointments Needed for Pet Adoptions in Montgomery County
Starting January 14th, the county’s Animal Services and Adoption Center will be open for adoptions seven days a week. In addition to extending its hours, the Adoption Center will no longer require appointments for adoptions. Adoptions will be walk-in only and will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis; the adoption questionnaire can be filled out online before visiting the center or completed in person upon arrival.
