Takoma Park Police Investigate Armed Robbery
Takoma Park Police seek the public’s help in identifying the people responsible for an armed robbery that occurred early Wednesday morning. Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy reported that on December 27 at around 12:48 a.m., Takoma Park Police were called to the 8600 block of Flower Ave. following an armed robbery. The victim was approached by a black vehicle, from which both suspects emerged and robbed the victim at gunpoint before fleeing eastbound on Flower Ave.

Cold Case and Missing Persons Unit detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 19-year-old Wilmer Crisostomo Cabrera, who has been missing since Dec. 4. According to a press release from Montgomery County Police, Cabrera was last seen on Monday, December 4, 2023, at around 7 a.m. in the 8700 block of Carroll Ave. in Silver Spring. Cabrera is 4 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black and yellow jacket, ripped skinny blue jeans, blue, gray, and white Puma shoes, and a black face mask.
Maryland’s Minimum Wage to Increase to $15 in 2024
Maryland is set to increase its minimum wage to $15 on Jan. 1, 2024, aligning with 21 other states that are also set to raise minimum wages to $15 or higher in the new year. Senate Bill 555, also known as the Fair Wage Act of 2023, was signed into law by Gov. Wes Moore on April 11, leading to the new requirement.

Zen Renovations has signed a deal to open a new location in D.C.’s Eastern Market neighborhood. Suspects Sought in Assault at Wells Fargo ATM
Takoma Park Police need help identifying four suspects who were involved in an assault at a Wells Fargo Bank ATM last Saturday afternoon. Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy said via email that on Saturday, Dec. 16 around 1:20 p.m., Takoma Park Police went to the 1100 block of University Blvd. in response to an assault at the Wells Fargo Bank ATM. The victim was attacked by four unknown male suspects at the ATM. A witness intervened by shouting at them to stop, causing all four suspects to flee in a gray Honda Civic with Maryland tags, heading southbound toward New Hampshire Ave.
