Taco Bell Cantina Construction Update
Construction continues at the upcoming location of Taco Bell Cantina in downtown Silver Spring. We previously reported that Taco Bell Cantina would open in the former home of Pollo Campero at 8662 Colesville Rd. The location is currently being built out, with flooring, kitchen equipment, lighting fixtures, and some seating having been installed. There’s also a walk-up window near the entrance for faster service, a feature found in all Taco Bell Cantina locations since the first location opened in San Francisco in 2015.

Montgomery Parks Seeks Public Restroom Pilot Feedback
Montgomery Parks is asking for public feedback on a high-tech public restroom installed at Flower Avenue Urban Park in Silver Spring. Montgomery Parks launched a pilot program in the summer with Throne Labs, a Brentwood, Md.-based startup that uses technology to provide clean, safe restrooms that can be quickly placed without utility hookups. Throne units have been successfully used on the National Mall and at Navy Yard in the District.

Takoma Park Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect linked to an indecent exposure incident on Monday afternoon. According to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy, Takoma Park Police received a report of indecent exposure on Monday at about 1:25 p.m. in the 300 block of Elm Ave. The incident involved an unknown male suspect driving a van who exposed himself to two victims near Sycamore Ave. and Beech Ave.
Part of Sligo Creek Parkway to Temporarily Close Wednesday
Montgomery Parks wants to inform drivers and pedestrians that a section of Sligo Creek Parkway in Silver Spring will be closed on Wednesday. Metro to Roll Out 24-Hour Service on Several Bus Routes
Metro is extending bus service to run overnight and into the morning, offering 24-hour service on 14 routes across the District, Silver Spring, and Takoma Park. Takoma Park Submits Ride On Reimagined Feedback
Takoma Park officials have submitted feedback to the county’s Department of Transportation regarding the Ride On Reimagined draft network concept. MCDOT’s Ride On Reimagined study is set to bring about significant changes in how the county transit system operates to meet current and future needs. The study will examine the existing and planned transit systems, including Metrobus services within the county and the upcoming Purple Line. By gathering and analyzing data and involving the community, the study will help shape the future direction of Ride On. Decorated Winter Holiday “Flash Lights” Buses Return
The county’s Department of Transportation has brought back its “Flash Lights” buses for the winter holiday season. The decorated Flash buses run along Colesville Rd./Columbia Pike (U.S. 29) between the Silver Spring Transit Center, Briggs Chaney, and Burtonsville, making stops along the way. The county-operated Flash Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line, which launched in 2020, runs every 7 to 15 minutes on weekdays, and every 30 minutes on weekends.
